The “Strive for Five” program will again work to encourage Hathaway students and families to set and reach the goal of less than five missed days of school for the year.
To help create some fun and excitement around the program there will be three bikes awarded at the end of the school year to lucky students with good attendance. Bike winners will be selected from the following categories 1) students with five or less missed days, 2) students who improved their attendance from last year and 3) those students with perfect attendance.
THANK YOU to Jeannine Mills (picture with Jenna Linerud, Social Worker and Nancy Boon, WSD Family Resource Coordinator) and Peter Goodling of Washougal Fill Station for the pledge to donate the first bike. Two additional Washougal businesses will be approached to help and asked to display the bikes at their business.
The Hathaway “Strive for Five” program begins with educating parents to the effects of missing school at the elementary school level. It hopes to change the perception which exists that attendance at the elementary level is not that critical.
