Hathaway Elementary families learned just how fun math can be at the annual Family Math Night, Thursday, October 22.
“We set up tables with different math activities for ages Kindy through fifth grade,” said Penny Andrews, Washougal District K-5 Instructional Math Coach. Activities including crafts, games and puzzles for students and parents to rotate through and work on together. “There was so much for them to do and everyone had a great time. Nights like this that we invite parents in is a good way to help families feel welcomed in our schools and enjoy it as a gathering place.”
“We were able to learn games, like with the dice, that we can play at home,” said parent Molly Krabbenhoft, attending with fifth grade son, Kael. “It is a lot of fun for parents to come into the school with the kids.” Approximately 120 people attended the evening activity held in the school cafeteria.
