Columbia River Gorge Elementary third grade twins Anava and Joela Grundy were honored by members of the VFW Post 4278 at the CRGE winter concert on December 14. Anava placed first and Joela placed second in the Patriot Pen State Junior Essay Contest for their grade level. The theme was “How Can I Be a Good American.”
The girls received framed certificates, cash prizes and a bag of goodies from the VFW Auxiliary. The two will read their essays to the entire student body as a part of the school morning announcements this week.
