WHAT IS IT? Knowledge Bowl is an academic sport* where you have the chance to test your wit, trivia, and teamwork skills as you battle against other student’s skills in a “jeopardy like” event. Usually a school’s Knowledge Bowl team is made up of a total of 3 or more smaller teams, each consisting of 4 – 6 team members (sometimes up to 8 in middle school). Our school’s teams compete against other teams from neighboring schools to see who can answer the most questions in math, science, history, English, social studies, etc. During each competition, teams (not individuals) compete in a written round (45 multiple-choice questions) and two oral rounds (45 questions each). The winning team is based on the total number of questions answered correctly in all three rounds.

WHEN IS IT? This year the season will run from January 6th with our first meeting/practice through February 26th for Districts. To start with, Students will meet for practices during lunch time and after school. Once meets start, we will only have practices during lunch time:

• Our first team meeting (counts as a practice) will be a short one ~ Monday January 6th at 12:15 pm in the Library. You will receive a schedule & a Welcome Paper that needs filled out by students & parents. Welcome Paper needs turned into the office by the end of the first week.

  • Lunch practices:
    • Mondays and Tuesdays from 12:15-12:45 pm
    • Thursdays from 12:00-12:30 pm
  • After school practices:
    • 2:45 to 4:00 pm on January 7 (Tuesday), January 13 (Monday), January 14 (Tuesday), and
    January 21 (Tuesday). Parents will pick up students by 4:15 pm at the latest.
  • Once meets start, practices will only be during lunches on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays.
  • Meets will be Monday or Tuesday and every Thursday each week, with Districts on a Wednesday.

We still need enough students to create our teams for competitions… please bring a friend or two to join in on the fun & excitement!
