Washougal middle school cross country student athletes had a phenomenal end to their already amazing season, with a first place team win for the boys, and third place finish for the girls at the league championship in Woodland on October 13, 2022, facing nine other teams. The joint teams have student athletes from both Canyon Creek Middle School and Jemtegaard Middle School, and are coached by Rachel Grice, Tim Gasper, and Colten Fox.
Coach Grice noted this was “… a phenomenal end to an already amazing season! Our boys’ team placed 1st in an incredibly competitive field of athletes.” She added that, “They earned the win out of sheer team effort!”
The middle school girls team had three runners placing in the top ten. Nearly all of the students set personal records on the 3,000 meter course, with Washougal runner David Grice coming in first with a time of 10:32:1, and Audrey Thomas coming in third with a time of 12:46:0. A full list of times for the championship event are available on the Athletic.net site.
Grice added that, “The six of our guys working together in the race is the epitome of cross-country at its best!”
